The horizontal css menu image generator has been completely re-written to generate smoother corners on the rounded tab images. Furthermore the improved class should be able to load the images faster, while the users customizes the menu.
Hopefully the new smoother images will make the css menus generated by the builder more attractive for website owners to use, since the menus do not have that grainy look anymore.
Since the re-write also changed the way the arcs are created on some of the menu images, the below illustration, does not show the comparison between the arcs.

Note:
An error in the stylesheet found when the menu was downloaded via the zip file has also been corrected. One of the background style for the active menu image pointed to the wrong location, causing the menu to appear incomplete.
To improve the quality of the css breadcrumb menu images, 5 pixels with different alpha transparency have been added to each corner to give the images a smoother look.
The image below illustrates the change to the images, comparing one of the old images to one of the new.

Today I added a css breadcrumb menu builder, to easily build nice looking breadcrumbs for your site. The builder consists of 25 background styles and 9 spacer images, giving a possibility of more than 200 combinations, not including the endless colour combinations for each image and text link.
For those of you that do not know what a breadcrumb menu is, have a look at wikipedia’s explanation of breadcrumb trails, since it gives a better overview of the menu, than me trying to give a simple explanation.
The breadcrumb menus have been tested in;
- Internet Explorer (windows)
- Firefox (window/mac)
- Opera (windows)
- Safari (mac)
But should work in all modern browsers, since they follow the xhtml/css standards supplied by W3C.
Today I launched my pet project, built for people that want W3C standard compliant css menus for their website.
The site is mainly aimed at people, newly introduced to the web, that haven’t had time to get acquainted with all the various techniques for building a menu for their website, though some professionals might also find it appealing. The aim is to provide a simple userfriendly way for these people to build a nice menu and get a clear overview of how to implement it into their website.
Currently only horizontal menus are available, but I will be adding more types of menus within a short period of time.
There are 8 background styles and 35 images to choose from and you can define two colours for each of the three stages, inactive, hover and active, along with the link colour for each stage.
There are two ways of getting the code for your menu, either copy/paste the html, css and image generated below the menu preview or just download the zip file, containing a html document, a stylesheet and the image for the menu.
But instead of me writing a long post about all and nothing, I would rather you have a look at the different menus and try out the css menu builder.
